FROM KINDERGARTEN TO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: A GUIDE TO A SMOOTH TRANSITION

The transition from kindergarten to elementary school is one of the most significant changes in childhood. New faces, different rules, greater demands — all of these can cause stress for both the child and the parents. However, with the right preparation, the adjustment can be smooth and natural.

WHAT CHANGES IN THE CHILD'S DAILY LIFE

In elementary school, the child is required to sit in class for longer periods of time, follow a more rigorous schedule, and handle more responsibilities. Play gradually gives way to learning, and autonomy becomes more important.

PHOW CAN YOU HELP?

  • Start the conversation early. Explain to him what elementary school is like and what will change.
  • Give him confidence by emphasizing his abilities.
  • Establish a calm sleep and morning wake-up schedule early.
  • Buy the school bag and supplies together, making it a joyful experience.

COLLABORATION WITH TEACHERS

Communication with the first grade teacher is crucial. Share any concerns and observations you have and ask for advice on how to best adjust your child.

HEALTH ABOVE ALL

Before school starts, make sure your child has a complete pediatric checkup. Dr. Minas Kremenopoulos, a pediatrician in Thessaloniki, can guide you with responsibility and care regarding the health and development of the child in this new phase.
