Based on the latest NHS guidelines for influenza:
▪️ The ONLY treatment remains the use of antipyretics and proper hydration - nutrition.
▪️ Tamiflu (oseltamivir) is NOT given to the general pediatric population (as is unfortunately done recklessly) except in complicated cases of influenza:
✔️ Severe lower respiratory infection (hypoxemia, dyspnea, etc.).
✔️ CNS (central nervous system) complications.
✔️ Underlying pediatric diseases (such as immunosuppression, diabetes mellitus, etc.).
▪️ The recommendation is therefore mainly in these conditions and for in-hospital use.
Finally, if used, it must be given within 48 hours of the onset of symptoms.
