Anatomical data‼️
🔹The maxillary sinuses are present at birth and develop rapidly until the age of 4 years.
🔹The ethmoid sinuses are present at birth and are actually multiple small cavities (cells).
🔹The sphenoid sinuses begin to develop during the first 2 years of life, they are spiritualized by the age of 12.
🔹The development of the frontal sinuses varies and around the age of 6-8 years they can be radiologically distinguished from the ethmoids, but they complete their development for another 8-10 years.
Epidemiology‼️
🔹Typically at ages 4-7, but also at any age (ethmoiditis in infants)
