USEFUL INFORMATION ABOUT STREPTOCOCCUS A

🆘In light of your strong and reasonable concern about streptococcus, we will share some reassuring facts with you. ⚠️⚠️⚠️

📌1️⃣Streptococcal infection is a very common cause of infection throughout the childhood spectrum.
📌2️⃣ It manifests itself in many forms, either as tonsillitis, scarlet fever, infectious keratitis, cellulitis, etc.
📌3️⃣ The outcome of the disease is VERY RARE in children with a similar immunological or other background (bacteremia, meningitis, osteomyelitis, toxic shock, etc.)
📌4️⃣ Diagnosis is made by clinical assessment and step test or throat swab culture by the pediatrician.
📌5️⃣ DO NOT resort to pharmacies to perform strep tests on asymptomatic children because one in 10-20% of healthy children are streptococcal carriers with a positive strep test and do not require treatment.
📌6️⃣The treatment is antibiotic, with amoxicillin or a second-generation cephalosporin being most suitable.
📌7️⃣To avoid subsequent complications of streptococcus, there is a 7-day window for treatment from the onset of the disease.
📌8️⃣Therefore, stay calm, have good hygiene and communicate with your doctor regarding your symptoms!
